This is the design for my sculpture. I do not know if I will be able to pull the stocking over the top, because it is so large.
There are approximately 8 pieces of wire, with a wrap at the top. There needs to be 3 wraps, one at the top, one in the middle, and one to secure the sculpture at the bottom. My sculpture needs improvement on the top wrap, because it is so weak. The wrap needs to be stronger so that the wires can create a strong base for the sculpture.
The top wrap is now secure. The wires are still flying everywhere at the bottom, and need to be secured. I was in the process of securing the middle weave/wrap. It is still very weak and needs to be stronger so that the sculpture can have basic form.
With the middle weave in place, just the bottom wrap needs to be put in place so that the sculpture can come together. I started the bottom wrap, but it needs to be stronger and tighter so that the wires don't shift and flop.

Final reflection |
Today I put the stocking over the wire frame of my sculpture. There needs to be improvement in the places where the stocking stretches over and attaches to the wire, because it is cut very uneven and looks messy.
I added some longer pieces of stockings to the sides. I also folded in the edges of the stocking and glued them so that the stocking would have a clean edge. I started painting the top, with purple, green, and blue. There needs to be more strips of fabric coming down and the painting needs to be completed. My product is not turning out the way I had originally planned it. The stocking was hard to get over the "bulb" parts. It was difficult to create a round shape, so instead I just attached pieces of stocking.
I painted the rest of my sculpture, using red, blue, green, and purple. My sculpture was difficult to paint because the stocking doesn't absorb paint well, and even when painted thickly the stocking parts show through. I had to go over each piece with many layers. The one part that is going well with my sculpture is the general structure. I like it because it is similar to what I had planned.
