Wet Clay: also called the plastic stage this is where the clay can be easily manipulated and bent

Leather Hard: clay which has dried out to be stiff, but is still wet enough to be attached to other pieces with slip or carved into.

Greenware: clay that is unfired and ready to be bisque fired, Bone Dry: clay that has no visible moisture, no dampness to the touch, and is ready to be fired

Glaze: a coating of material applied to bisque fired clay that forms the glass-like surface, can be colored, opaque, translucent or matte
